8 Little Known Secrets at Walt Disney World

By Jace Smith

We all know that there are behind the scenes things at Disney that help make the magic happen. But there are a few things that we see everyday or smell that we don’t think about. Disney has a few secrets that make you feel more immersed in the Disney magic.

  1. When you come through the entrance into the Magic Kingdom you will see a circle in the middle of the road area, like a circle in a traffic circle. You will see a big flag pole and you might see no flag or a flag. Everyday United States veterans will lift the flag up and take it down. You can participate in a flag lowering ceremony each night with the Pledge of Allegiance and National Anthem.

  2. If you look up on top of the buildings you will see some U.S. flags and they look like normal flags but they are not. They are flags with the wrong number of stripes and stars so they don't need to take them down or put light on them.

  3. Main street is designed to look like the place where Walt Disney used to live called Marceline, Missouri. All of main street is designed after what the city's downtown looks like.

  4. Have you ever walked down Main Street and when you are near the ice cream shop you smell an amazing smell of ice cream? Disney has a way of pushing out smells through vents that will smell good and will make you want to buy food nearby.

  5. In Cinderella's castle there is a lot of art that looks amazing and you will see some things that look golden. The lining and parts of the mural in the passageway between Main Street and Prince Charming Regal Carrousel is made out of real gold.

  6. If you are a Disney Vacation Club member then you will get special access to the Disney Vacation Club lounge which you can find at the end at Journey into Imagination With Figment located in EPCOT. You can bring up to 5 people per membership card. So if 2 people have the card then 10 guests come in with the 2 members. The lounge  has games and drinks as well as snacks and all of this is free. There are also iPads that you can use. It's a great place to get out of the rain, get water or other things because they have those soda machines that you can choose hundreds of options, and get some snacks so that you don’t need to buy some from other shops.

  7. When you go into the Animal Kingdom and you go to Asia you will see a very tall mountain which looks like Mount Everest which it is supposed to look like. This ride is called Expedition Everest which is one of the most popular rides in Animal Kingdom. This ride is well done and this is for a reason. This ride is the most expensive roller coaster ever made and it cost over 100 million dollars to make and it is a fun thrilling ride that you will enjoy. And on the ride you will go backwards but you will not go upside down. You will feel like you are because of how it curves you in the dark

  8. Cinderella's castle is one of the most iconic things in Disney world and it is very tall and there is an illusion that they did to make it look even taller than it really is. The castle is just tall enough for them not to need to put a light on it for airplanes.
