What Walt Disney World is like during covid-19

By Jace Smith

When you think about the covid-19 pandemic then you would not want to go outside or better yet go to a theme park. But when we went to Walt Disney World during a pandemic we had a very interesting and actually fun and relaxing time.

Usually when we go to Walt Disney World we have to plan everything so that we would have enough time to be able to ride all of the rides that we wanted. But when we went we basically could do whatever we wanted because the wait would be like 45 minutes or under.  If you do go there was this thing where certain rides were popular because a huge crowd was going there so we went and did the rides that had like a 5 to 0 minute wait time and then went to the rides that everyone already did and we could have done them like 5 times if we wanted to, but we were all hot because of our masks. So if you go you should pack a lot of masks because they are going to get sweaty if you go in the summer because it's Florida so it is going to be hot all the time. Also, the cast members are very strict about you wearing your mask when you are supposed to so no maskless photos.

There are some areas where you can take your mask off but there is a limited amount of space however they are nicely air conditioned--great way to cool down. When we went there were no parades at all but there was the occasional single float that would go around the park and have like one or two characters on it so if your children wanted to see a parade then that won't happen. The single float parade only happened at Magic Kingdom and at Animal Kingdom if you were near the river that goes through most of the park then you will get to see a boat with one or two characters on it and there will also be some music with the character so you will be able to hear it coming.

All of the parks are open for the same amount of time but they all open at different times and for us we usually went back to our hotel and just relaxed and it was nice. We had a lot of time be able to rides but when Florida is very hot and you have to wear a mask and we were all very tired and the parks closed much earlier than they use to so you would be able to get a lot of sleep of enough sleep that you want and we had enough time to be able to go Disney Springs and be able to shop if you like doing that kinda thing. When you are eating you are going to have to stay in one spot and even drink because they don't want you moving around but you don't need to be at a table to eat or drink but you just need to stand or sit in one place while you eat. But all in all it was a good trip and Disney had done a very good job about being safe and making sure that you have a lot of fun, but if you are going for your first time then I would not because you would not get the right idea of the theme park.
