The Slinky Dog Dash coaster is one of Walt Disney World’s newer attractions. As part of Toy Story Land located in Hollywood Studios it is arguably the most popular coaster in the park. When on this ride you are the size of a small toy as you are in all of Toy Story Land. The car is designed to look like Slinky from the Toy Story movies and the sounds that go along with it are very realistic if you could actually ride Slinky.
The ride takes you through a series of areas in what is referred to as Andy’s Backyard. So you start off by going by a box that has Rex on it talking about the Tyrannosaurus Rex. Then you get to a boost area where you increase in speed relatively quickly before going up and around a bend before heading down towards where Jessie and Rex are. The scene is that Rex is on top of the structure there tied up with some lights that Jessie is trying to use to help get Rex down safely. As you see this you go around in a loop of over 360o around that structure before doing a small bunny hill and then a 1800 turn back to the tower. Then you turn to the right going under the bridge you walked over to get into the queue where you slow and stop.
After stopping Slinky says “Hang on'' and then you back up as you hear the noises around you start to increase in pace. Then at some point you will accelerate really fast and Slinky will say “Here we go” then you’ll go up a hill then as you head down you’ll take a 1800 turn and do multiple small bunny hills. After the bunny hills you then head back down and around a curve into the area where a photo is taken then you’ll turn back towards the beginning and enter the big finale zone. Here you will see Wheezy singing “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” to end off Slinky Dog Dash.
Now the queue even though it may not be part of the ride is still impressive as it seems like the instructions and parts that were used to build the coaster almost as if it was a toy that was being played with. Plus you get to walk around and see lots of drawings or designs of characters from Toy Story which really add to the experience and fun. Also Slinky Dog Dash like some other rides has a fast pass plus queue line. So for those that don’t know what fast pass plus is I’ll give a quick run down. Fast pass plus is a way for those that want to ride those rides that are more popular or a way to not have to sit in as many lines and continue having fun. So what it does is save your place in line and sometime during the day you’ll have a one hour window to go get in the fast pass plus queue of the ride you chose.
