This ride is the only log flume ride in Walt Disney World currently. Also they are remodeling the ride because it’s currently based off Song of the South and in that movie there’s slavery based on the time period in the movie. They are remodeling it to be styled after Princess and the Frog.
This ride is a water ride where you drop 5 stories at one point and can get wet on the ride in the right conditions. Although there is more to the ride then the big drop that you go down at one point there is much more to the ride. Such as the underground part where you go by many animatronics singing either about a laughing place or “Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah”.
There are three separate drops including the one at the end although that’s the biggest one while the other ones are maybe 3 stories tall but probably shorter. There are about 8 seats in each log flume; sometimes you can squeeze three if you’re small enough. As you travel through the almost 1,000,000 gallons of water on the ride you will experience an adventure past many animals such as geese, frogs, raccoons, possums, bees, and alligators.
Also you will get a brief summary on part of the movie through the ride on the story of Brer Rabbit and how he wanted to leave home and was chased by Brer Fox and Brer Bear. The whole sequence involves Brer Rabbit going about his life after leaving the briar patch to go on his own but Brer Fox tries to catch Brer Rabbit with the help of Brer Bear. However to be able to embark on this journey you must be at least 40 inches tall.
At the start you’re just enjoying a nice ride down a river and then you are dropped down a small area where you appear to be underground this is where the journey truly begins. As you’re travelling you’ll encounter as stated earlier brer Rabbit and some other animals such as a frog, alligator, porcupine, turtles, possums, etc. Then you’ll see Brer Bear with his head stuck in a tree and Brer fox trying to get him out of that tree. As you descend lower again due to another drop you will enter what Brer rabbit calls his Laughing place where Brer Bear has a beehive on his nose. But instead of helping out Brer Fox has decided to capture Brer Rabbit to take him to his lair. This is where you’ll see some vultures talking about gloom and doom and a “laughing place” as you go up and up until you head down that 5 story drop and get wet and just before your photo is taken.
At the end of the ride you can scan your magicband to get your photo through the photopass which is linked to your My Disney Experience account through the app on your device. After enjoying this journey with Brer rabbit you can celebrate his return with all the other animals at the end where there’s a boat filled with animals singing “Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah”.
